SKYPOWER Ⅱ 9-27x56

$499.00 $223.00

It's only 7.6"" long, but the SKYPOWER Ⅱ 9-27x56 Spotting Scope boasts big functionality. Its BAK4 Porro prism and anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics deliver bright images with accurate color representation in high contrast and with minimal distortion. Its broad 9-27x magnification range lets you scan wide swaths of the landscape looking for targets. The maximum 27x magnification pulls distant objects in close, while birders and butterflyers will love the 8.2' close-focus distance. The 45° eyepiece places your head in a natural, comfortable position whether you are standing, sitting, or lying prone. The aluminum alloy chassis is wrapped in protective rubber armoring and is nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed for a water and fogproof performance.

Really nice optics for terrestrial viewing or astronomy

First, this review asks about “sheerness” and things that do not apply to a spotting scope. Second, I bought several other “grab n go” optics (Gosky for one) that I was really not happy with - lots of chromatic aberration. This skypower is well made and has good optics. Also light enough for a camera tripod. If I don’t have time for the full telescope I bring this out and enjoy the sky.

Lightweight, but not worth it to me

I watched numerous video reviews for small spotting scopes that would work well for an Alaskan cruise and port excursions. This got great reviews. While it is very portable, that's about all it did for me. Once I got it, I did not think the clarity was that great, and the magnification was not any better than the existing binoculars I already have. It only duplicated the optical capability I already had. I decided to just use my Nikon 16x50 Action Extreme binoculars. They are not much bigger, but they have superior clarity and a much better field of view with similar magnification capability. Also, the binoculars offer much better 2-hand viewing stability, than the single-hand skypower. So, my decision to return was based on the low value of cost versus added optical benefit. Otherwise, the unit seemed fine.

    Good rifle range scope

I shoot medium caliber to 100 yards max and I can see holes in target. I would not expect it work beyond that. But its small, light, and has good FOV and fits in range bag nice. Seems like good quality optics for the price.

Clear optics with adequate zoom range

I was very anxious about about the 9-27X56 ED lens performance after reading many reviews. However my trepidation was unwarranted. The optics compared favorably to my 8.5X42 Minox binoculars at both ends of the zoom range with no notable peripheral distortion or chromatic aberration. Above 12X hand held use is not satisfactory and my limit for monopod use is about 18-20X, so tripod mounting gives the best view. As for the case, the material is a bit stiff, but if you preform the round end of the case, hold the scope at the elbow, and zip from the upper side to the underside, there is no problem with fit. Love the scope!!

The micro scope is exactly what we hoped it would be! The size and weight are perfect for taking on our adventurous trips and even at home will give wonderful views of skypowers at our backyard feeder.
