Not easy to set up I do not recommend this product. I tried to used it, it’s a pain to set up .
I was excited to receive this adapter as I'm a pathologist and would like to have a quick and easy way to take photomicrographs with my iPhone and not have to open up software on my connected PC to do it.
The setup and mechanism is a lot less complicated than another adapter I had tried, so that is definitely a plus.
Unfortunately, I still can't get the adapter to fit over my ocular. Even with the adapter dialed all the way out (ie, open all the way), my ocular's diameter is still too big to fit. I even tried removing the rubber off the ocular but no luck.
So, I wasn't really able to use this adapter, but I don't think that's the fault of the adapter.
I have a cheap telescope and a even cheaper phone. I purchased the phone holder and after a few minutes of adjusting I was able to take great pictures.
I bought this to attach my pixel and my wife's samsung phones to a pair of good binoculars to use as a simple telephoto. The way the ring attaches to the binoculars is very stable and grips well. It is easy to line up your phones camera first with the hole in the ring, and then attach the ring to the binoculars. The bottom holds the phones firmly without pushing the buttons on the side and does not move around, so once you get things lined up you're good to go. I do not think this is a good substitute for a serious telephoto lens, but for our purposes, a lightweight easy way to use our phones to take pictures far away, it's just fine. Nicely engineered.
A little cumbersome, but what an awesome way to photograph birds and other distant items. I attached it to a small powerful monocular with phone preloaded into it. Works like any zoom camera, just lighter, cheaper, and more compact. Great for hikers. Only drawback is having to fiddle with the adjustments each time you hook it up. So if you want to take quick pictures, gotta keep it attached to phone at least.
